| While working as a hospital
chaplain, I was struck by the number of people
in Mobile, Alabama who were neither involved in
a local church or members of one, but yet could
clearly state their personal faith in Jesus
Christ. People who considered themselves
Christians, but had little interest in "church"
as it has become in 21st Century America.

GraceLiving
Community is
for those who arn't
impressed by program-driven, shut-up and sit
down, come here and go home "church."
We are a
web-based open community with a local fellowship group
in Mobile, Alabama. We
connect and network through this web
site, through Facebook, and
through our blog
.
We also connect and network through prayer and
Bible study fellowship group here in
Mobile. |

The times have
changed since Jesus and his disciples planted
churches that looked more like community
fellowships than the buildings, budgets,
and programs that mark today's American church
culture. |
| We have been
accustomed to "church" as a brick and
mortar structure and as a destination point for
activities and worship. It has been a natural
approach to reaching our communities for Christ
and the gospel. We think there is still a place
for traditional church organizations in the
great
commission. | | |

However, our culture is changing. People
are no longer compelled to get up and go
somewhere when consumer needs are so readily
available through the digital world of
telephones, emails, instant messages, and
web sites. |
| The
internet has brought about the most
profound changes in our modern lives since the
invention of the printing press. The world wide
web is becoming the central medium of
information, entertainment, social connection,
homework, employment, and even spiritual
inspiration! | |

GraceLiving
Community is for those who want
to do church differently! We are seeking others,
like us, who believe Jesus Christ is the Savior
of our sin-sick world and understand that the
Scriptures hold the secrets to living a grace
filled joyful life; but have become
disillusioned with the traditional means of
church membership and program-driven
invovlement. (About

with a spiritual community on their own time and
involvement terms,
- to have access to
pastoral care
and services for life issues and needs as
required,
- to
enjoy opportunities to gather with
other GraceLiving
Community
members.

| We do "church" different on
purpose. We may not be your mother's Baptist
church, but we still hold to the same deep
convictions and beliefs in the truths of
Scripture. We just live in different
times. We still want to grow spiritually
and want to be witnesses for our Lord Jesus
Christ. We just live busy lives - fathers,
mothers, and children - in a busy different
world. |
| Our goal is to encourage and equip
people to "grow in grace
and in the
knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus
Christ." We are not
interested in inspecting religious fruit,
meeting denominational requirements, or putting
on facades to impress or pretend we're
perfect. |
| We may be based
in Mobile, Alabama, but there is no reason why
our growth couldn't spread to other communities
across America and even into the English
speaking regions of the free world.

Steve Durkac, and I am inviting you to

Community . I have served as a senior
pastor, a staff pastor, and as church planter.
I have served the Mobile Baptist Association
as a Biblical Prayer Ministries Director, been with
the Alabama Conference of Southern Baptist Evangelist, and have
served as a hospital chaplain with Providence
Hospital. |
